Manage the development of an innovative global web based business, preferably a disruptive one that will transform the market place and make established traditional businesses obsolete, or at least reduce them to a niche market.

Profile

A creative, self-motivated and pro-active software development project manager & software architect with strong background as an analyst and developer, has developed a unique hands-on management style which enables delivery of systems that suit the actual users as well as management, as well as getting the best out of the developers. A natural problem solver, liaising directly with company directors, senior managers or entrepreneurs to drive the business forward. Takes responsibility for the entire process, experienced working in many different environments and thrives on challenges.

Has acquired comprehensive understanding of the software development life cycle, with a focus on maximizing efficiency and minimizing the number of bugs.
Knows how to get the most out of knowledge workers, creating a healthy and friendly working environment, promoting quality and productivity, guiding and helping junior developers and letting experienced developers excel at their areas of expertise. Experienced using Agile development methodologies and SCRUM.

A very versatile individual, adept at communicating efficiently with developers and other IT staff as well as non-technical staff and management on their levels. Not afraid of delving into source code, database design and complex technical design issues or business issues, including marketing and strategy planning, when needed. Competent at balancing between code quality, features and delivery time, and always aims to deliver on time, within budget and above expectations.

Often acts as "translator" between technical people, creative people, innovators, management and business owners, staff and customers. One of very few higly technical people who can understand, and make himself understood with, non-technical users, having a particular passion for working with entrepreneurs who have a great idea but lack technical expertise - helping them make it happen!

Relevant Experience

• Managing developers developing innovative products for clients, sourcing the best developers, doing feasibility studies for entrepreneurs and startups, connecting clients with the right people and helping them move their businesses to the next level.
• Taking part in development of web applications using Ruby on Rails
• Ran a development team developing a meeting room booking engine (time based inventory) handling more than 80,000 properties, using a compiled proprietary language, and a front end using an interpreted open source language and a modern web framework, cummunicating with the backend via XML
• Also included in the above, architected a complex search engine for searching 20 million locations (towns, properties, stations, airports, etc.) using geographic proximity, among other things, as search criteria, reducing search time from almost 2 minutes to less than a second - on standard hardware.

• Studied possibilities for Business Process and Software Development Outsourcing to the Philippines

• Introduced a simple, yet affective way to track errors, minimizing developer time spent on reproducing bugs - saving a fortune in man-hours
• Developed a white labelled version of their international hotel booking software, allowing partners to use the booking engine under their brands - opening a new revenue stream
• making designers less restricted, allowing full creativity, without fear of breaking code - solving the another big problem they had at the time

• Designed a user friendly real-time language independence system for web applications, allowing users to use the CRM and e-commerce system in their preferred language and enabling translators to efficiently do their job
• Web enabled an integrated CRM, inventory management/logistics, accounting and e-commerce system
• Worked closely with, and developed software for, one of Norway's biggest logistics, drop-shipping and direct mailing companies, handling clients like Readers Digest, Avon, and major lotteries and book clubs
